A private Polynesian village on Lanikai Beach
Paul Mitchell Estate sits on over an acre of gated beachfront in Lanikai, on the windward coast of Oʻahu. The hair-care pioneer Paul Mitchell created it as a modern take on a Polynesian village, with hand-carved Balinese doors, columns of native ʻōhiʻa logs, Hawaiian koa and Asian antiques set among palms and tropical gardens.
The 11,000-square-foot estate is spread across seven buildings with rounded stucco walls, ironwood-shake roofs and peaked grass-cloth ceilings. The main house has a gourmet kitchen, a split-level living room with 25-foot ceilings and an upstairs oceanfront primary suite with a fireplace and marble bath. The Boat House, Guest House and Carriage House hold the other bedrooms, and a Guest Service Pavilion, Pool Pavilion and Bath House with a Japanese furo and sauna sit along covered flagstone paths. Kailua Town is about 2 miles away.
